Update!

So upon reviewing the possibilities for myself beyond the realm of South Florida... I have discovered that no matter where I go, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, New York, LA, San Francisco...

I can get a job as a PHP Web Developer, so long as I know HTML, SQL and AJAX...which I do.

But what I don't see, is an abundance of Ruby on Rails jobs, or Django jobs... and these are two frameworks I am interested in..one I have already developed in, and the other I am waiting patiently to use...

So for this round, PHP+assoc technologies wins!

P.S. thefeelgood.com, is awesome!

Sorry Google, Wordpress is better...

So very quickly, since I am on lunch break.

I will be voting in the Florida Primaries today. Here's a hint on who I am voting for... HERE.

On another note, as my title says, I will be moving over to WordPress...I want more control over my layout and design and the opensource version from wordpress.org works really well for that.

It's official, I will be presenting RemindsYou at BarCamp miami, hopefully with Chet on the screen to assist, cause I'm going to be a little scared. But hey, it should be fun!

Anyway I have to go back to work.

FOWA MIAMI!!

I just got news today that FOWA will be in Miami from Feb 28-Feb 31. I am really excited for this event, especially BarCamp miami!

Hopefully, Chet will be able to come down and present RemindsYou to everyone at BarCamp, if not I'm down to do it by myself.

Hopefully I can meet up from some guys from Y Combinator before then, and hopefully some of the Wufoo guys as well.

Should be fun, pictures from SF coming tomorrow.

SF Crunchies!

So, it was my first time going to San Francisco this past weekend. I went in order to attend The Crunchies. The Crunchies is an annual gala event for Web Startups everywhere. It was hosted by TechCrunch, GigaOm, Read/Write Web and VentureBeat.

It was a great ceremony, with lots of cool stuff and humor. The after party was awesome as well, some big name attendees include, Jeremy Schoemaker of Shoemoney, MC Hammer(yes, it's hammertime), Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Kevin Rose of Digg, and many more.

I had the opportunity to meet alot of great people, including people from the Y Combinator community, in particular, Gabor Cselle, from Xobni. I finally met Mark Hendrickson from TechCrunch, a really cool dude. I also had the opportunity to meet the guys from UpNext, Jason Nazar from DocStoc and the guy who runs StartUp Schwag, Roddy Richards.

Overall I had alot of fun and hope there is another event like this in the near future. As a developer San Francisco is mecca.

In the following days, me and my girlfriend (who is really awesome btw), hung out with her cousins. We all went out and had some fun at a candy store and playing with the seals or sea lions or whatever...

[Pictures Coming Soon]

We went back and had an awesome family dinner.

I got to see alot of SF this time around, including Herbst Theatre, Pier 39 and the Metreon. I haven't bought my next ticket but I will be getting asap. I want to come back and see alot more of San Francisco.

In other news, I built my first 'Online Business Card', Rememberthisguy.com. I didn't have the
opportunity to get business cards printed up, so I had to get creative so people would remember me. It's a really simple site with just a little bit of information on how you can contact me or see what's going on.

Check it out: Rememberthisguy.com

Lastly, I just wanted to announce that I am working on a project by the name of 'RemindsYou'. I will be looking for 100 people to be alpha testers immediately. RemindsYou will be a web application that is, very simply, "To-Do Lists on Steroids".

You'll be able to:
-Add all sorts of events/tasks to your to-do lists
-Get reminded about what's coming up and what needs to be done now
-Subscribe to an RSS feed of your to-do's
-Add a Google Gadget that works alot like the web application
-Update your to-do lists from your Blackberry,iPhone or any mobile browser
-Alot more

We are due for launch in like 1-2 weeks so I'll keep you updated.

Cheers,
Auston

The San Francisco Experience

Well I'm in San Francisco for the first time. I'm trying to get the full experience. I'm going to post an entry tomorrow outlining the entire trip.

But for now, I went to The Crunchies last night. It was a blast, MC Hammer told me that I "don't have enough octane" for my girlfriend and a lot more...

Check out my online business card: rememberthisguy.com

Update Post (Happy New Year)

Been busy tweeting instead of blogging.

Quick update, I will be changing jobs from Expedited Travel to James Ross Advertising in the coming week. Its a more stable company with a clear direction.

Ill be making that and some of the code I am working on while on the train this week available.

I finally got a new mac and its great. I did this awesome thing today where I had internet using the bluetooth capability on my cell and the macbook but it stopped working and im sad about it.

I also spent a good time trying to install php and mysql and just recently got it done, so i figured id reward myself with a blog post before bed.

I hear the next YC application will be available soon and I really want to have something to show for myself this time. I'm building a free mobile reminder app just to say ive built something cool.

I'm also cranking out the prototype of NextMove and applying with that.

Until next time, which will hopefully be soon...

P.S. I'm going to the Crunchies in SF from January 17th-20th so if anyone is in the area. Drop me a note or something!
